Pontardawe Bowls Club was founded in 1962, the origin of the bowls club was the workingman's club and financed also by the club. Persons involved in its inception were T A Williams, T M Daniels, J Lloyd, K Jones, J Lewis, D Sarge Lewis, D Davies, C Munkley and J Fay. The club entered the Swansea Bowling League. 

In 1991 the club hosted a Test Match between Wales & New Zealand on Wednesday 5th June. This was a great honour for the club to host this type of match.

In 2022 the club celebrated our 60^th anniversary and hosted several invitational games to celebrate this milestone. A friendly welcome for all who turn up at king George v park. The club done a league double in 2022 in the 60^th year for the club embarked by winning the neath league division 2 and the local Cwmtawe triples league the first title in this league for 33 years.  The club is affiliated to the Welsh Bowls Association, Neath & District and Cwmtawe Bowls Associations and also take part in the welsh club championship namely the Carruthers Shield.

The Neath & District league division 1 contains sides from the Swansea, Neath & Afan Valleys and they are namely, Pontrhydyfen, Aberavon, Gwynfi, Port Talbot Ynys, Mount Pleasant, Brifton Ferry Steel, Skewen, Pontardawe, Tick Tock Community & Resolven.

The Cwmtawe League this season we play in the first division and the sides include, Resolven, Pontardawe, Coedgwylim, Ammanford, Skewen, Tick Tock Community & Ystradgynlais

The Neath league and Cwmtawe league are just two district bowling associations which make up the West Glamorgan Bowls Association and also the Swansea bowls association are also part of the county.

The West Glamorgan county is one of ten County Bowling Associations that make up the Welsh Bowling Association (WBA). The other County Bowling Associations are Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire, Mid Glamorgan, Mid Wales, Montgomeryshire, Pembrokeshire, South Glamorgan, Vale of Glamorgan & Monmouthshire

A warm welcome is assured to anyone who would like to try their arm at bowls, it is a fantastic game which can be enjoyed by all ages and abilities. We are always looking for new members who enjoy half price membership in their first year if they are new to the game.
